Welcome to the Department of Women Development & Child Welfare
Brief Note on State Home, Hyderabad:

The State Home, Hyderabad situated in the premises of Directorate Campus, Vengal Rao Nagar was stated in the year 1958.

The staff pattern is as follows:
  • The State Home is mainly run to provide immediate shelter to Women in distress and victim of atrocities.
  • The admission is immediate or else cases are also rooted through police department and Juvenile department etc.
  • The age group covered is from 18 years up to 35 years and the sanctioned strength is 25 inmates. The present inmates strength is 12 adults and Children 2.
  • Through the admission is immediate a case sheet is opened and the case worker conducts a deep study of the case and efforts are taken to rehabilitate and also bring the inmate to normal life at the earliest. The period of stay in State Home is 3 years for general and for SC & ST inmates can stay for a period of 5 years. The inmates are rehabilitated by providing training in specific trades like Italian Lace work making, tailoring, Maggam work, Hand Embroidery etc.
  • After training the individual under take works to obtain some income. The inmates who are interested to continue regular studies can also do so. The graduate teacher provides the necessary teaching part to appear for SSC public examinations.
  • The inmates during their stay are provided boarding, lodging, Health check up and health assistance as and when as and when required.
  • Inmates are also provided livelihood skills to experience various aspects to lead a normal life.
  • An exposure to various departmental activities in arranged. Many of the inmates basing on their education qualifications are recruited as AWW's & AWH’s in ICDS projects run by the department.
  • So far number of inmates are rehabilitated.
  • If the inmates are unmarried and on attaining the age of 18 years and above and willing to get married proposals with suitable candidates ready to except Home inmates are found. Marriages are conducted as per their religion with the help of NGO’s and donations received form the departmental officer’s etc.
  • The State Home function’s for the upliftment of neglected and Victim women.

4 Homes are functioning in the State at Srikakulam, Rajahmundry, Mahaboobnagar, Hyderabad. These Homes are meant for Women discharged from correctional Institutions and Women who are unable to protect themselves. Food, Shelter and Clothing is provided besides imparting training in various trades for self-employment, wage employment / job employment.
