State Mission Authority (SMA)
The Government of India, Ministry of Women & Child Development launched the National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW) with a view to empowering women socially, economically and educationally. The Mission aims to achieve empowerment of women on all these fronts by securing convergence of schemes/programmes of different Ministries/departments of Govt.of India as well as State Governments. In this context the Govt.of India, Ministry of Women & Child Development requested the State Government to establish State Mission Authority (SMA) for Empowerment of Women and the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) on the lines of the National Mission Authority (NMA) and National Resource Centre for Women (NRCW) to assist the State Mission Authority and liaise with the existing institutions/structures for monitoring and review of flagship programes and other schemes of Central Government, State Government Schemes for eliciting the information required to be placed before State Mission Authority (SMA), for taking forward the National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW) mandate.
Government, therefore, after careful consideration, decided to notify the State Steering Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Society for Protection and Empowerment of Women and Children (APSPEWC) as the State Mission Authority, by suitably modifying the composition of the State Steering Committee, to make it similar to the composition of State Mission Authority proposed by the Government of India
The State Steering Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Society for Protection and Empowerment of Women and Children (APSPEWC) consisting of the following members, constituted vide G.Os. (1. G.O.Ms.No.22, WD,CW &DW (WP.A2)Dept.,dt.31.08.2009. and G.O.Ms.No.31, Dept., for WCD&SC (JJ.A1), dated: 09-11-2012.), shall be the State Mission Authority, to implement the objectives of the Society and to take forward the National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW) mandate
Honerable Chief Minister as Chairperson with Minister (Women, Children, Disabled & Senior Citizens) as Vice Chairperson and Ministers for Finance & Planning; Micro and Small & Medium Industries; Revenue; Environment & Forests; Law & Justice; Agriculture; Cooperation; Home; Labour & Employment; Vaidya Vidhana Parishad; School Education; Rural Development; Sarvasiksha Abhiyan; Panchayat Raj; Civil Supplies; Health Medical & Family Welfare; Social Welfare; Tribal Welfare; Housing; Backward Classes Welfare; Minority Welfare; Chairperson, State Planning Board; Chairperson, State Commission for Women;. Eminent Civil Society Members to be nominated by Honerable Chief Minister in consultation with Minister (Women, Children, Disabled & Senior Citizens) as Members
