BRIEF NOTES ON SERVICE HOME , HYDERABAD

The Service Home, Hyderabad was started in the year 1958. It is meant for deserted wives, widows and destitute women coming from financially/economically backward families. The sanctioned strength to the Service Home, Hyderabad is 150 adults and 60 children.

During the year 2008 - 2009 the aim and objectives of the Service Home, Hyderabad has been changed. As per G.O.Ms.No. 14, of Women Development, Child Welfare and Disabled Welfare (ICDS-A2) Department,. dated. 23.5.2008, the Orders were issued to give admission to the students in Smt. Durghabai Deshmukh Government Women's Technical Training Institute, Hyderabad who have completed their S.S.C. through Departmental Institutions in A.P., like State Home, Service Home, and Children's Homes etc. 70% of the seats in each of the Diploma Courses in SDDGWTTI shall be reserved for complete Orphans, Destitutes including trafficked victims etc, to the inmates of institutions notified by the Director, WD&CW Dept.

The students were admitted for the Diploma Courses of Architecture, Civil, Computers and ECE. At present 230 students are residing in Service Home, Hyderabad. The Government has provided Food, Shelter, Books and all other needs for the students.

As per the Menu chart the food with nutrition values will be served . Specials will be given on every Sunday and on all festivals. Student's food committee is involved in watching the stores, kitchen and serving in the Dinning Hall.

For improving their studies and for better results, special coaching is arranged. The students were divided into groups headed by a better studying student, 3 medium students and 2 poor studying students in each group of II year. 4 bright, 3 medium and 3 weak students in each group of I year. Particularly for Mathematics & English tuitions were arranged.

Students study committee is watching the maintenance of Study Hours. Donors and Govt., officials were involved to watch the study of the students. During the summer holidays the students were sent to computer training, "MS-office and Auto CAD" to improve their skills and better future.

For physical and mental development of the students, in the morning Physical Exercise, Yoga and Meditation taken place and in the evening practicing the sports and games (indoor and outdoor).

For recreation, Songs and Dances practicing by the students. During the year 2008-09, 50 students were participated in the (Lakhsha gala sanketharchana) Annamacharya songs programmes which was conducted for the entry in " Gunnies Book of World records ". On 15th Aug 2010 i.e., on the occasion of Independence day celebrations the students staged performances of dance and songs in a befitting manner.

For behavioral change, counseling classes were taken place. Students are encouraging for team work, build up sharing, understanding , adjustability.

Health check ups taken by doctors working in the ICDS projects, if necessary, sent to Government hospitals. With the help of the donors, Medical camps taken up. Eye camp was also taken up.

Overall Development is taken up for the inmates of service home.
